It has been some night for Sunderland's Irish contingent tonight.

Having secured a priceless - and highly surprising - 4-1 win away to promotion-chasing Derby County, Chris Coleman has both Aiden McGeady and his captain John O'Shea to thank for their contributions.

McGeady provided Sunderland with a two goal cushion; his second-half penalty an absolute masterclass despite Scott Carson's best efforts at putting him off.

With a win looking increasingly likely, it was O'Shea who put the icing on the cake.

Not the cleanest of finishes, O'Shea won't care less. His first goal since that vital strike against Germany in 2014, the Sunderland captain was clearly delighted.

With rumours of his impending retirement emerging earlier in the week, the 36-year-old has recently rubbished such rumours and has no plans to end his illustrious career just yet.
