With two wins and two defeats in League Two this season after relegation last season, John Sheridan has been given the boot at Chesterfield. He lasted their three seasons. It got us thinking about the USA '94 team and their career in management. It hasn't been great:

Steve Staunton - abysmal as Ireland manager, disaster at Darlington with four wins at 23 managers.

Roy Keane - Sunderland's saviour before players tuned him out, Sunderland are still trying to purge themselves of some of his acquisitions; all wrong at Ipswich.

John Aldridge - Not bad at Tranmere in the late nineties/early naughties, with a couple of FA Cup quarterfinals and a League Cup final in 2000. He left after relegation to what's now League 1 and hasn't returned to the management since.

John Sheridan - The man with the longest track record in management after three seasons at Oldham preceding his three seasons at Chesterfield. He beat Everton at Goodison once in the FA Cup.

Ronnie Whelan - Gets Southend relegated in 1997 before before beginning a completely random managerial career in the Mediterranean with the likes of Olympiakos Nicosia and Apollon Limassol in Cyprus. Who among us can forget Ronnie managing Panionios to the quarterfinals of the 1999 Cup Winner's Cup?

Alan Kernaghan - The first Irish player to coach with Rangers managed Dundee for a season after coaching Clyde. Apparently he's employed at Brentford at the moment.

Tommy Coyne- Wikipedia says he managed Clydebank in 2000 for a season and was also sacked in 2005 at junior club Belshill Athletic.

Eddie McGoldrick - Was once player-manager at something called Corby Town, and also managed a football club called Bashley. Now coaching the youth team at Northampton.
