Dundee have condemned the recent racist abuse directed at Ireland U21 striker Jonathan Afolabi.
Afolabi, who is on loan at the Scottish Championship club from Celtic, took to his Instagram page to yesterday share a string of messages he had received after scoring in Dundee's 3-2 Scottish Cup victory over Bonnyrigg Rose.
Dundee have now released a statement condemning the 'vile abuse', saying it has no place in society.

Racism has no place in society. We have reported these unacceptable messages and will look into what further steps can be taken.
Sadly, this isn’t the first incident in the last seven days which has seen one of our players being subjected to abuse.
After last weekend’s match with Heart of Midlothian, another player received disgusting messages which have also been reported. As a club we have zero tolerance for these abusive messages and give our players our full support.

Afolabi has earned two caps for the Republic of Ireland at U21 level, joining Celtic in the summer of 2019.
He has yet to make a senior appearance for the Scottish champions, taking in two loan spells at Dundee. He has scored three goals in 11 appearances this season.
