Jose Mourinho isn't one to back down from a scrap, be it on or off the pitch.

There have numerous examples of the Portuguese manager getting involved in altercations over the course of his career, something that hasn't changed since his return to Italy last summer.

Roma have had a mixed campaign up to this point, finding themselves in sixth position in the league and eight points outside the top four. They are still in European competition, facing Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt in the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League next week.

Mourinho has been frustrated at times over the last number of months, including when he had words with a journalist during a press conference yesterday.

According to The Mirror, reporter Alessandro Austini had previously had some less than kind words to say about Mourinho on Italian radio.

When he then went to ask a question at the media event, Mourinho would call him out for not being as harsh when speaking in his presence.

I was expecting a much more aggressive question, more negative and violent after I listened to you on the radio. I didn't expect such an easy question.

My conclusion is that you are much more aggressive and violent on the radio but when you come here you shit yourself a little bit in front of me.

Having entered the season with the hopes of securing Champions League football, such a feat looks incredibly unlikely as things stand. It remains to be seen if a Europa Conference League triumph would mark this as a successful campaign in the Italian capital.

Considering Mourinho's tendency to have short stays at clubs in recent times, it would not be a surprise if a poor end to the season could meant we are already counting down towards his final days at Roma.
