The Jose Mourinho return to Stamford Bridge was nowhere near as explosive as we thought it was going to be - and reaction to the game was a mixture of disgust (from United fans) and confusion/glee from neutrals who struggled to believe just how bad United were playing.

Chelsea opened the scoring in the opening minute of the game when Pedro capitalised on fairly comatose defending from Blind and Smalling at the back for United to nip in and slot home. And this was a a sign of things to come for the Red Devils on a nightmare afternoon filled with defensive errors, no-shows from their big names and tactical brainfarting from Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea ended up winning 4-0 with goals from Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante adding to Pedro's opener.

And there was glee taken in United's plight by some fairly high-profile and unexpected sources.

Mourinho's plan - or rather, lack thereof - had onlookers bemused, to say the least.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was inept. Paul Pogba was useless. But Marouane Fellaini, that beacon of blonde dynamism in the middle of the park, was the one on the receiving end of the most criticism from United fans.

Even mild-mannered Ken Doherty was getting a bit pissed off with the Belgian.

And that well-known darling of the radical left, Gary Lineker, dared to tweet his own views on Fellaini from whatever Communist bunker he's currently plotting from.

We even saw a goal from N'Golo Kante. Is that a dodo out the window?
