Juan Mata is a class act on the field - and now, it would seem, off the field as well, as his interaction with a young wheelchair-bound fan shows.
Footballers often get a bad rap, called self-absorbed, spoilt or a variation of similar adjectives. But it is, in many cases, undeserved. Cristiano Ronaldo, Steven Naismith and our own James McClean are some names that spring to mind as footballers that have shown they have a kind-hearted side with their gestures.
And often it is through simple acts of generosity that footballers, idolised by so many, can make a difference.

Young Alex Nield was waiting around where the United team were assembling before heading to the Lowry hotel before their clash with Stoke at Old Trafford today. Mata, though seemingly in a rush, made time for the youngster.
