Karl Pilkington is a man who is not afraid to speak his mind, and fortunately for him nearly everything he says draws a laugh. The Mancunian podcast and TV star has been promoting his new Sky sitcom Sick Of It, and in an interview with BBC Sport, he explained how he currently feels about watching the Red Devils, and you'd have to say that his words must ring true for a lot of United fans:

I feel like supporting United is like having a tortoise as a pet. I had a tortoise, and they are not entertaining to watch. You don't watch them, but you know you have got a bit of responsibility to show some interest.

That is what I do with United. I keep an eye on them.

The 46-year-old stated that he doesn't watch every United game at the minute, asserting that with the way the team are performing it is 'a waste of 90 minutes', and that a win is a bonus because he has no expectations anymore. It may be a slight stretch to say United supporters' cynicism extends to that degree, but with all the negativity around the club and their poor start to the season it's easy to see why he would feel that way.

Pilkington went on to explain that he doesn't go to watch United play anymore as he finds that punters use him as a 'lucky charm':

I don't go to games, I don't like crowds you see, and if people recognise that you are off the telly and they have had a few drinks, they start wanting to rub my head as if I am like some lucky charm that is going to turn the game around.
