The world of football is prepared for yet another Kylian Mbappe transfer saga over the months ahead, with the French superstar set to become a free agent this summer.

Mbappe has spent the last few seasons flirting with the prospect of leaving PSG. Real Madrid have felt they were in a strong position to sign the player on a couple of occasions, only for him to opt to remain in Paris.

This summer will be another chance to get the deal over the lines. The player will be available on a free transfer, with there being an acceptance that the 25-year old is likely to look to move abroad for the first time in his career despite a massive contract offer from his current club.

However, it seems he is making one unconventional demand when it comes to negotiating with potential new clubs.

Any new club that signs the Frenchman will be keen to show off the player after his signing, although it seems as though they could be forced to go without him for the entirety of their pre-season and potentially their opening league games should he sign on the dotted line.

Caught Offside are reporting that Kylian Mbappe is demanding that his new club put a clause in his contract that would allow him to play for France in this summer's Olympics. It is said that a refusal to do so would be a 'dealbreaker'.

Paris will host the Olympics this summer, with the event getting underway in late July. As a result, players taking part in the event would miss preseason with their clubs.

Football in the Olympics is largely an U23 event, although each team is allowed to include three designated players outside that age range. Those designated players are not required to be released by their clubs, meaning they have the power to stop them taking part should they so choose.

However, it seems that Kylian Mbappe is keen to play in the event on home soil and will demand to be allowed to do so by whatever club he represents next season.

With Euro 2024 also set to take part this summer, he would essentially not have an off-season. As a result, he may miss some of his club's league fixtures to start the new campaign.

Real Madrid are the heavy favourites to sign the player over the coming months, with Liverpool also said to hold an interest in the player.

It will be interesting to see how things play out over the coming weeks and months.
