Liam Miller was unveiled as a Cork City player this evening. The former Celtic and Manchester United spoke about what it meant returning to his hometown club.

Obviously I’m a Cork lad. It was pretty straight forward to be honest with you. I’ve got mates here as well and coming into the team I’m already looking forward to working hard pre-season now.

I had a chat with John Caulfield and it was straight forward, I didn’t need too much convincing as my mind was made up as well. I wanted to come home. Things were very smooth and very quick.

Cork finished second in last year's League, with a late charge giving them a chance of the title going into the final game. But they lost the title shoot-out with Dundalk in Oriel Park. Miller seems optimistic about Cork City's chances of going a step further this season.

I’ve seen a few League of Ireland games over the years and I suppose it‘s had its ups and downs, but I feel City are in a good place to be fair. They had a great season last year and I suppose only fell short at the final hurdle.
