The life of a football fan is an unforgiving one. You spend the most of the season giving out about the players you have, and the summer giving out about the ones you don't. For Liverpool fans this means pining for John Henry to pull out his chequebook and sign Roma and Brazil 'keeper Alisson Becker.

The 25-year-old has had a £66 million price tag placed on him by the Serie A side, with Liverpool believed to have tabled an offer of £62 million. Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the situation with rumours that Thibaut Courtois is headed to Real Madrid.

But according to some diligent/deluded supporters Brazil's number one is set to move to Anfield with some eagle eyed detective work suggesting the player is already en route to Liverpool.

It all started with an Instagram from Alisson's official account, which shows the player with his family holidaying in Sardinia. This was coupled with the revelation that a private plane left from Sardinia today heading in the general direction of England. Put the two pieces of information together and you have glimmer of hope that Liverpool fans need to latch onto as they head out to the store to get 'Becker 1' put on their new jerseys.

Users were quick to point out that the plane could just as easily land in London as in Liverpool, but that hasn't dampened expectations among Reds fans.

It's the hope that kills you.
