Liverpool got one bit of business wrapped early this summer, with centre back Ibrahima Konate joining from RB Leipzig for a fee of £36million.

Centre back was seen as the priority for the club after suffering a huge number of injuries in that area last season, with the Frenchman brought in to add to the returning trio of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip.

Their attentions will now be turning to other areas of the pitch. A replacement for Gini Wijnaldum is likely to be sought after his departure to PSG, while a forward could also be looked at.

The likes of Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Takumi Minamino are all facing uncertain futures at Anfield and it is possible that a couple of those players could be on their way in the coming months. It appears as though they could have one particular target in mind.

Sky Germany are reporting that Liverpool have opened discussions with PSV froward Donyell Malen with a view to signing the player this summer. The Dutchman notched a very impressive 27 goals and ten assists in all competitions for the club last season.

22-year old Malen, who is currently on Euro 2020 duties with The Netherlands, was once part of the academy setup at Arsenal but never made a competitive first team appearance for the club.

He has since gone on to prosper in his homeland after joining PSV in the summer of 2017 and is one of the most highly sought after young players on the continent. It is thought that a fee of around £34million would be enough to get the deal done.

This is the move of transfer that would fit Liverpool's transfer model, while their front line could also do with a bit of a refresh. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino looked well off the pace for much of last season, and while Diogo Jota was a welcome addition, another new face could be needed as their traditional front three reach quickly approach their 30s.
