These comments are unlikely to go down well with Manchester United fans, although when you consider how the club has been run over the last decade or so, van Gaal is not far off in his assessment on this occasion.
Despite this, Ten Hag is reported to be keen on the potential switch, with Mauricio Pochettino thought to be the other frontrunner for the position.
