Luton Lose League 2 Playoff Semi Thanks To Comically Unlucky 95th Minute Own Goal

A 95th minute equaliser is always a sickening blow for a football team to take, but when it's an own goal, and condemns your club to another season in the lowest tier of the English Football League? Yeah... Ouch.

Luton Town had looked to be going through to the League 2 Playoff final at Wembley when they found themselves 3-1 up just after the hour mark against Blackpool on Thursday night, and 5-4 up on aggregate, but when they conceded with 15 minutes to play which levelled the tie, their fans may have feared the worst.

Whatever those Luton fans may have been fearing likely wasn't nearly as horrible as what actually happened, as their season was ended in the 95th minute of play by an own goal that (so long as you're not a Luton fan) is so unlucky you can't help but laugh.

That's honestly not even fair.

The mis-kick clearance appears to have been caused by the big pool of mud in the six-yard box, and even still it would have been cleared if not for smacking off the back of the goalkeeper and heading in.

Blackpool go on to the final, where they will meet Exeter City as they defeated Carlise, also by an aggregate score of 6-5. We're expecting goals at Wembley so.
