Man United Are Becoming Very Petty Indeed According To Victor Valdes' Wife

Victor Valdes' move to Man United was bizarre in the first place. The fact that he was not particularly needed nor, as it turns out, wanted would seem to suggest that someone got the wrong end of the stick when it came to contract negotiations.

Perhaps Valdes was expecting to automatically become number one when De Gea moved on in the summer. Obviously that didn't happen but even if it did, it seems Louis Van Gaal had no intention of turning to the former Barca man anyway. So why bring him in on what must be fairly hefty wages?

It's a weird one but, with Valdes expected to be off the books come January, it seems Man United are in no mood to give him much of a send off, or even some common courtesy according to Valdes' wife.

Yolanda Cardona posted a picture to her Instagram account of some of Man United's Spanish speaking players at a charity dinner which was held in aid of UNICEF over the weekend. The dinner is thought to have raised £230,000 for the charity but, in line with an increasingly frosty relationship with the club, Valdes wasn't even invited.

Alongside the picture of Juan Mata, Marcos Rojo, Sergio Romero, David De Gea, Ander Herrera and their partners, Cardona wrote;

Do not invite to my husband @vicvaldes1 to be part of the #united4unicef, it's the last thing you don't expect from one of the biggest clubs as @manchesterunited. 'A Charity event is always a Charity event'.

Plenty of people have replied to her suggesting that because Valdes is not part of the first team, there's no reason for him to be invited. Given his standing within the game, that does seem a bit harsh. There may be something else going on behind the scenes but, as a club, United are not exactly coming out of this with utmost dignity.
