Man City are getting a new crest. The angry eagle is a bit of a classic but it seems it's not quite up to date with the modern club and, after consultation with the fans, they've decided to change it.

The club have confirmed the decision today with the only details announced being that the badge will once again be round.

The club can confirm that there is an overwhelming desire amongst Citizens for the badge to evolve and that a round design, as used in two of the club’s three previous crests, is by far the most popular shape and remained so throughout the consultation process.

The club has therefore been working with our designers to establish a badge which most authentically reflects both Manchester City Football Club and the city of Manchester and which takes into account the feedback received during this consultation.

A round design was used in the club's previous two crests but from our uber-qualified designer opinions, we think they're making a bit of a mistake.

Granted, what the crest looks like may not have a massive difference on what actually happens on the field but that eagle is one of the Premier League's more impressive designs and we'd be sceptical that they'd be able to do a better job.
