With their season now over, Manchester United's focus will quickly be shifting towards what business they can conduct in the transfer market.

It will be yet another big summer for the club, who will be looking to cement their place in the top four and close the gap between themselves and Manchester City next season. Neither goal is straightforward, even if they do spend heavily.

It has been said that signing a top class striker will be Erik ten Hag's main priority, with the likes of Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen linked. A midfield will also be sought, while the club will also look to clear their books of some deadwood.

Another position that will be looked at is centre back. United have made a number of big money signings in that position in recent seasons, although with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof failing to meet expectations, another player is likely to come in as they prepare for a return to the Champions League.

Manchester United reportedly close to first summer signing

L'Equipe are reporting are that Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal to sign Monaco centre back Axel Disasi.

The French outlet claim that Monaco are seeking €40-€50million for the player, a fee the Premier League side will have no issue in matching.

Disasi, who can also play right back, joined his current club from Reims in 2020. The 25-year old has since gone from strength to strength in Ligue 1, starting all but one of their league fixtures last season. He also made his France debut in 2022, going on to earn three international caps.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with Napoli's Kim Min-jae and they may view Disasi as a backup option should that deal not go as planned. The Korean's €40million release clause cannot be triggered until July, meaning the club is likely to have a contingency plan in place should he opt to go elsewhere.

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
