Erik ten Hag has been quick to get to work at Manchester United. Having only lifted the Eredivisie title with Ajax last weekend, he soon made his way to England to get a feel for his next club.

The Dutchman has been in and around the club's training ground over the last number of days, holding meetings with the club's hierarchy. He is also in attendance at this afternoon's season ending fixture against Crystal Palace.

Potential transfer targets are sure to have been central to any discussions, with ten Hag likely to have already identified a number of players that will be pursued in the weeks ahead. At least one of them could be a very familiar face.

Manchester United Current favourites to sign Jurrien Timber

Journalist Jonas Hen Shrag is reporting that Manchester United are 'frontrunners' to sign Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, with the defender set to leave Amsterdam this summer.

A number of clubs throughout the continent have been credited with an interest in the player, with a fee of around £35million likely to be enough to secure his services.

Timber, a 20-years old defender that can play at either centre back or right back, had a fantastic season. He made 43 appearances in all competitions during his second full campaign in the first team.

It is believed that his representatives have already had positive discussions around a move to Old Trafford, with the presence of Erik ten Hag at the club sure to be a plus.

He will not be the only target pursued by United in the weeks ahead. It is likely that a centre forward and central midfielder will also be pursued, while the club could also look to bring in a right winger.

That will only be the first step in what is likely to be a sizeable rebuilding project.
