The Relieved Reaction To Manchester United's Europa League Glory

Like most things with Manchester United this season, it wasn't pretty. But they did what they set out to do, and in Jose's Mourinho's first season, they've won two competitions and qualified for the Champions League.

It was a very comfortable 2-0 win over a young Ajax team who possibly succumbed to a bit of stage fright in Stockholm tonight.

Firstly, a reminder that tonight was bigger than football, as evidenced by a lovely touch from a bitter rival.

For United fans, it was a much needed shot in the arm tonight. At least for one night, they felt back where they belonged.

It was a night of vindication for José Mourinho, winning his fourth European trophy in his first season at United.

There was also a lot of love for Wayne Rooney who was brought on with the game over in the 90th minute. Was his last action in a United jersey lifting the cup?

Of course, this result might buy his replacement.

Nothings makes a victory sweeter than a needless dig at your rivals.

Well done United. There'll be five Premier League teams in next year's Champions League.
