Mark Travers began his Premier League career with a bang towards the end of last season, but his future at Bournemouth still appears somewhat uncertain.

The Maynooth native earned man-of-the-match honours on his league debut for The Cherries, pulling off some stunning saves as he helped his side to a 1-0 victory over Tottenham at the Vitality Stadium. His second match was less fruitful, conceding five as Bournemouth fell to a 5-3 defeat at Crystal Palace.

The goalkeeping situation at Bournemouth for next season is not clear. The club appear ready to move on from number one Asmir Begovic, while experienced back-up Artur Boruc recently signed a new deal.

It is expected that Travers will also sign an extension soon, with two years remaining on his current contract. But with Bournemouth expected to fork out for a new number one this summer, and Jack Butland strongly linked, Travers may seek a loan move.

The Irish Sun are reporting that both Norwich City and Leeds United have shown an interest in the 20-year old, as they seek to strengthen their goalkeeping options.

Norwich are hoping to find some competition for Tim Krul ahead of their return to the Premier League, with Travers likely having to make do with a place on the bench should he move to Carrow Road.

The Leeds situation may be more appealing. The future of current number one Kiko Casilla is uncertain, despite the player only arriving in January of this year. He had an absolute howler in their play-off semi final loss to Derby County, and it has led the club to consider other options between the sticks.

Travers is believed to be seeking regular first team football, as he attempts to ensure he remains in the plans of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy. A role as first choice should be a priority next season, with the chance to play week in and week out being crucial to the next step in his development.
