One Marseille fan got to live the dream of millions of football fans around the world on Sunday night.

Kamel Zaroual was invited by the Ligue 1 side to take the ceremonial kick-off at the Stade Velodrome ahead of the team's game against Toulouse.

According to reports in France, Zaroual had taken part in a lengthy charity bike ride around the country in aid of disadvantaged children in the Marseille area and was being honoured by the club

Brought onto the field ahead of the match, Zaroual was meant to pass the ball to one of Marseille's players, but he had other ideas.

Referee Benoit Millot advised Zaroual to pass the ball to a Marseille player, but the fan decided to take a risk and give himself a moment he will never forget.

Leaving the field he could not stop the tears flowing down his cheeks, as the emotion clearly got the better of him. Marseille manager Rudi Garcia even gave him a hug as he left the field.

Football fans around the world have dreamed of scoring for their team. When Zaroual got an opportunity to do so, he wasn't going to let it pass.

Marseille won the game 2-0 and are currently in fifth place in Ligue 1 after seven games. Sadly Zaroual's goal didn't count.
