Sounds Like One Man Utd Transfer Target Will Not Be Going Anywhere This Summer

Manchester United fans will no doubt be slightly frustrated by the news that Mats Hummels has said a move away from Borussia Dortmund this summer is "unlikely".

The German defender, who bagged a goal in Germany's 4-0 demolition of Portugal yesterday, was asked whether or not he had given any consideration to the rumours surrounding his future at the Westfalenstadion, and his reply seemed to pour cold water on the speculation for this summer at least. Hummels said:

I never think about it or talk about it because it is something that is not important for me right now. Maybe it will be someday, but I do not expect it to be like that this summer.

After another impressive display at the heart of the German defence yesterday, it is easy to see why the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United are interested in the 25 year old's services, as both teams are looking to replace key figures at the centre back position. United in particular will hope to change his mind, as it believed new boss Louis Van Gaal has made Hummels is number one defensive target.

It will be interesting to see if these quotes were merely to brush off a transfer question at a World Cup press conference, or whether Mats Hummels fancies another go at the Bundesliga/Champions League with Dortmund.
