Mino Raiola, the football agent known for having some of the biggest names in world football as clients, has been banned from football activity for three months after a decision by Fifa's disciplinary committee.

The Dutch agent was banned by the Italian FA on Wednesday, but Fifa's decision means the ban extends right throughout the world until the day after the Premier League's transfer window closes - August 9. Raiola's brother Vincenzo was also hit with a two-month ban.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported, earlier this week, that the decision came as a result of Raiola's dealings in the 'Scamacca case' - a case which involved the transfer of teenager Gianluca Scamaca from Roma to PSV Eindhoven in 2015.

What impact these developments have on the expected transfers of his clients like Matthijs de Ligt - and the possible transfers of clients like Paul Pogba - remains to be seen. The agent also works with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marco Verratti and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

While the Italian FA has kept quiet on the accusations put to Raiola, the agent has refused to remain quiet and released a statement on Thursday.

It said:

The 'Italian Ban' is not a surprise, unfortunately.

My personal concern is that it has been a sentence dominated by political willing, without taking into the right consideration the reason of law.

I guess that Italian Football Association has not forgiven me when I have diffused my critics for their role in the disastrous state of Italian football, as well as their role around the latest episode of the racism problem.

In a statement last night, Fifa said:

The chairman of the FIFA disciplinary committee has today decided to extend the sanctions imposed by the FIGC on the intermediaries Carmine (Mino) and Vincenzo Raiola to have worldwide effect.

Carmine Raiola is suspended for a period of three months and Vincenzo Raiola for a period of two months.
