Reports that Anthony Martial has departed Manchester United's tour of the US were confirmed by Jose Mourinho following his side's game against AC Milan in the States on Wednesday.

According to The Times, Mourinho is extremely unhappy that Martial has left the tour. The French forward has flown to Paris to attend the birth of his second child.

"I found out that Martial was going to Paris when he told me. Was two or three days ago," Mourinho told the Manchester Evening News.

"When it is personal reasons, everyone analyses that the way they think is the correct way and when a man is going to be a father in this case, it's the second time he is going to be a father, and he decides is very important for him to go, nobody has the right to stop him to go."

Those are not the most supportive words the Man Utd manager could have used in this situation.

The Times' report states that the situation has left the relationship between the two at a "breaking point".

Man Utd drew their third successive game of the tour on Wednesday. Though they did beat AC Milan in a penalty shootout.

Martial had started their opening two games against Club America and San Jose Earthquakes.

The 22-year-old was a fringe presence at the club last season, a circumstance which led to his agent confirming in recent weeks that his client wishes to leave Old Trafford.

It has been reported that Mourinho is willing to allow the player leave the club but not to a Premier League rival.
