Starting off the day 2nd in the Scottish Premiership between their city rivals Hearts, a 4-2 defeat at Park Head left Hibernian in 5th and their manager Neil Lennon quite unhappy.

Falling 2-0 behind early on (the opener coming via this wonderful Tom Rogic goal), Lennon bemoaned his side's slow start to the game.

However, speaking in the post-match press conference, it became clear that Lennon was not exclusively laying the blame at his own team's door.

"We were playing against 12 men which is very difficult, because I thought the referee was abysmal."

Lennon felt such biased treatment was evidenced in the referee's handling of Celtic's Filip Benkovic.

"How Benkovic doesn't get a yellow card ... is beyond me! He's taken [Emerson] Hyndman completely out of the game, we get a free-kick on the edge of the box but no yellow-card?

Given Hibernian's strong start to the season under Lennon's management, questions had been asked - given Celtic's relatively slower start - whether or not a title challenge could be feasible for the former Northern Irish international's side.

Having not won the Scottish top flight since 1952, this may be seen as something of an ask. However, Lennon identified a more pressing reason why such a target may be unfeasible.

"I'm sick of hearing this 'title contention' stuff, they've got a budget of £60 million, and a £9 million striker.

"I've got free transfers and rejects from other clubs who are playing brilliantly, for me.

Quite the statement from the former Celtic midfielder, plenty were left a bit upset with the comments from Neil Lennon.
