The first half of Everton vs West Brom has delivered a situation that you don't see too often the in the upper echelons of the football pyramid. You see it all the time in amateur football. Flashy striker wins a penalty and sees the opportunity to add to his goal tally but dependable old-timer has always taken them and he's not about to give up now. Cue quick squabble whereby old-timer nearly always comes out on top.

You don't usually expect to see that in the Premier League. Leighton Baines takes penalties for Everton and he takes them well. Against West Brom tonight, Kevin Mirallas thought he could add to his tally so he stepped up, seemingly against team orders and promptly put it wide.

As of this moment we don't actually know for certain that that is what happened but it certainly looked like it. Unsurprisingly, the footballing police chiefs that are Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher didn't take to kindly to the incident during their half-time analysis.

Mirallas was subsequently taken off at half-time with Everton eventually slumping to a dour 0-0 draw. Afterwards both Steven Naismith and Roberto Martinez said that the dressing room were okay with Mirallas' course of action.

So, does anyone believe that?
