The wait to see the brand new Ireland jersey, the first with New Balance, is over.

It's been months since we learned that Umbro would no longer be making the Republic of Ireland football jerseys, and that New Balance would be taking over, and in that time there has been a good deal of speculation as to how it's going to go.

We've seen releases like Liverpool, Celtic, Porto, and Sevilla, and we even mocked up a few guesses as to what it might look like, but now the need to speculate is gone.

We don't know how the kit experts at FootyHeadlines.com manage to get their leaks, but they get them, and New Balance's first Ireland jersey is the latest to emerge.

As always, it's going to divide opinion, but without further ado, here it is:

The round-neck collar is something that is going to be everybody's cup of tea, but the first impression is not bad. Vertical stripes similar to the diagonals on the 2016 Umbro jersey are a nice touch, and we're liking the 'Eire' on the back below the neck.

It's a safe effort, and some will love it just as some will not fancy it, but if 10 outfield Irish players are wearing it in Russia next June it will look a hell of a lot better.

We're still waiting for a clue as to what the away and goalkeeper jerseys will look like, but we'll have to wait until we're closer to the official release which is still set as sometime this month.
