There has to be more to it than 'Bolton might come in for you. son'

Niall Quinn broke off from eating his Club Sandwich, garnished with the obligatory Hunky Dorys, to hold court on the future of Irish football in a boardroom in the Radisson Hotel beside Dublin airport.

Quinn believes that Ireland must find a way of keeping their talented footballers at home until they can get their education. His advice to young players who have their pick of English clubs is 'go with the one that says if you don't make it, they'll pay for three years of university after.'

Quinn also spoke about falling out of love with the game towards the end of his time as Sunderland chairman.
