With seven minutes left in yesterday's Group D fixture between Nigeria and Iceland, and with his side 2-0 down, Gylfi Sigurdsson had the perfect opportunity to get his team back into the game when Tyronne Ebuehi caught Alfred Finnbodvarsson on the back of the leg in the box and after a VAR review a penalty was given.
Sigurdsson has a crowd full of Nigeria fans behind the goal willing the Everton man to miss, but a particularly vocal supporter made sure that the 28-year-old's spot kick would not hit the back of the net:
'Ovadiba! Ovadiba!' Brilliant.
Yesterday's result means that Nigeria are well in contention to escape Group D, the Super Eagles will progress to the round of 16 if they beat Argentina in their final group game next Tuesday.
Meanwhile Nigeria captain Jon Obi-Mikel has criticised Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic for stating that he will rest players for their last game against Iceland. The former Chelsea midfielder told Goal that "this is a massive tournament - you can't rest people and give others a chance of qualification," and that the World Cup "is such a big stage that you can't rest players just to help other teams to qualify".
