There is probably a very short list of people that Lionel Messi looks up to. Maradona, Pélé, Pep Guardiola perhaps. Oprah Winfrey would more than likely not be on that list.
But despite this, the media tycoon has taken the time to send Messi a personal message, (albeit at the behest of an Argentinian host), to give the Barcelona man some inspiration as he heads into the World Cup in Russia this summer.
Winfrey was speaking at a promotional event for her new film, "A Wrinkle in Time," in which she stars alongside Reese Witherspoon, and US Office star Mindy Kaling. The host of the interview asked if Winfrey had any inspirational words for Messi and the American TV host did not disappoint:
Messi, this message is for you, and this is the thing, you already know this in advance: You go deep, you go deep, and you find the strength inside yourself. And Messi: Be a warrior.
