Could The Derry Pele Be Signing For Dundalk?

Paddy McCourt left Glenavon just before Christmas after admitting he was struggling to adapt to part-time football. Tonight the 33-year old showman was pictured with the Dundalk squad at a meeting with the PFAI.

The PFAI tweeted that they were delighted to discuss the challenges facing players in the domestic league with the current champions. McCourt stands there, front and centre, with the rest of the Dundalk squad in the accompanying picture.

McCourt thrilled Celtic during his late noughties heyday but his struggles both in League 2 and in the IFA League in the last couple of seasons would imply that his finest days are assuredly behind him.

Still the hopeless romantics out there would leave to see him recovering his old form with the League champions.Nothing delights them more than a silky winger who looks like one of those nameless base players on the final Oasis album.

McCourt has been training with Dundalk in recent weeks but thus far he hasn't signed up with the club for the new season.

A League of Ireland veteran, McCourt played under Stephen Kenny before at Derry City in the mid-noughties. Before that, he spent a brief spell at Shamrock Rovers.
