Merseyside vs Manchester: MK II

We all remember what happened earlier in the season between Manchester United and Liverpool. Red Monday was hyped to the moon and back by Sky Sports. How would Jose Mourinho react to coming up against Jurgen Klopp? How important would the Anfield crowd be? And who could control Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his first major match up against... Dejan Lovren?!

It was one of the worst games of football we've ever seen. A flat, bland 0-0 draw LIVE on Sky Sports. When has that ever happened before... So when the broadcaster hyped up this usual 'Super Sunday' as 'Merseyside vs Manchester' we were a bit wary. Everton humiliated Man City in the earlier game, stuffing them 4-0.

It was all set for a brilliantly open game of football at Old Trafford. The two most successful clubs in English football going head to head in a pretty important game in terms of points.

What we got was a much tighter, scrappier game of football. The world's most expensive player gave away a ridiculous penalty and Liverpool pounced. James Milner's first half spot kick was almost enough for Liverpool to escape with all three points. But then Zlatan dared to be Zlatan again with a deft equaliser.

Final score: Mereseyside 5-1 Manchester.

Social media reacted accordingly.
