Peru are the final team to secure a World Cup place after beating New Zealand 2-0 in their play-off today. After the opening goal, the celebrations in their capital city of Lima were such that they activated earthquake-detection apps.

Peru have not been to a World Cup since 1982. A  Jefferson Farfan goal gave them a crucial lead and after he did so the Sismo (earthquake) Detector app issued an alert to users that a natural disaster was imminent:

However their researchers soon realised the trigger wasn't two blocks of earth slipping past eachother but Peruvian fans embracing each other.

INCREDIBLE | Earthquake Detector alarm would be activated in the District of Lima due to the celebration of the goal from Peru to New Zealand.

In the build-up to the game Peruvian fans had set off fires outside the New Zealand player's hotel during the early hours.
