Is This The Most Racist Chair You've Ever Seen?

Roman Abramovich's partner Dasha Zhukova has been accused of racism after plonking herself down on an "incredibly racist" chair. I dearly wanted to headline this story 'Another Racism Scandal At Chelsea' but wiser counsel prevailed.

The chair, as you can see above, is a highly unorthodox design from Norwegian artist Bjarne Melgaard, inspired by an earlier sculpture by Allen Jones. Ms Zhukova has said her actions have been misinterpreted and that the chair is intended as "a commentary on gender and racial politics."

"This photograph, which has been published completely out of context, is of an artwork intended specifically as a commentary on gender and racial politics. I utterly abhor racism and would like to apologise to anyone who has been offended by this image."         [Independent.ie]

'Organising for Women's Liberation' attacked Zhukova, calling the image "incredibly racist." According to the artist, what marks this chair apart, aside from the obvious, is that it is not meant to be sat on.

That probably makes it worse for Zhukova. You weren't even supposed to sit on this chair.
