Raheem Sterling Scores Dramatic Late Winner, Gets Sent Off For Stupid Reason

Manchester City dramatically beat Bournemouth in the Premier League this afternoon: Raheem Sterling scored a dramatic, 97th-minute winner for City, after Mike Dean controversially penalised Josh King for a foul to allow City one final attack in the game.

Sterling did the business for the second game in a row: Danilo's low cross found Sterling in the penalty area, and his shot shanked off Andrew Surman and looped into the net.

As Bournemouth sank to their knees, Sterling rushed off to celebrate with the City fans, understandably unable to control himself amid the jubilation.

A few fans spilled onto the pitch, with a couple of stewards swallowed up in the crowd amid efforts to separate players and fans.

The celebrations went on for almost two minutes, and once Sterling returned to line up for kick off, he was approached by referee Mike Dean...and was sent off.

Dean gave Sterling his second yellow, meaning he was off. While Dean was technically right to issue Sterling a second yellow, the rule is fairly preposterous.

It means that City have now had successive red cards - Kyle Walker didn't last the full game against Everton on Monday - and Sterling will miss the trip to Liverpool after the international break.

It is also an agonising moment for all Fantasy Football managers who have Sterling among their ranks: the red card more or less cancels out Sterling's last minute goal.
