On The Balls.ie Football Show this week the topics of football punditry and general negativity around the sport came to the fore, and the case of Tim Cahill perfect encapsulated both talking points.

During the lads' pundit podcast discussion, Mark brought up Cahill in regard to his Match of the Day analysis of Everton vs Sheffield United. The match was a strange one in that Everton enjoyed an outrageous amount of possession and finished with 16 shots compared to United's two. However, The Blades ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.

This wasn't simply a smash and grab job, as Cahill explained in his analysis. The former Everton player highlighted how time and time again, The Toffees played right into Sheffield United's hands, swinging in crosses from deep and being forced into a slow, blunt build-up due to the excellent defensive structure United were implementing.

Impressed by the analysis, Mark took to Twitter to search Cahill's name and see if others were as taken by his tactical breakdown. This is what he found:

So I searched him on Twitter to see if there was a bit of positivity around him and this just sums up football Twitter...

You've got - from Oliver Holt - "Excellent analysis from Tim Cahill on Match of the Day. Good show tonight."

Tyrone James: "Tim Cahill can stay."

Then you've got "Who the fuck gave Tim Cahill a job talking?" ... "Tim Cahill is bloody awful."

Then somebody else: "Match of the Day, get Tim Cahill on more. He looks at tactics and strategy and well, not many of your guys do."

"He's not without competition but Tim Cahill has to be the worst pundit out there. Horrific."

Lastly: "Everton are shite and so is Tim Cahill's punditry."
