Rafa Benitez was unveiled as the new Real Madrid manager at a press conference today.

Just minutes into his reign, he was quizzed about some possible signings for the new season.

Regarding Raheem Sterling, Benitez said that he 'admired' the player.

We admire Raheem, that's no secret - but he is not one of our players so I can't really comment on him.

Sterling reportedly told Brendan Rodgers last month that he desired a move away from Liverpool. This was followed by his agent telling the London Evening Standard that £900,000 a week would not keep the player at Liverpool.

The new manager was also asked about David de Gea. Real Madrid have long been linked with the Manchester United goalkeeper. Again, Benitez was coy on the matter.

I like the way you have tried to sneak that question under the radar but we will evaluate everything in time. We will not name names today.
