Liverpool continued their sensational run at the top of the Premier League on Saturday when two injury-time goals from Darwin Nunez saw them claim victory over Brentford at the death.
Despite the close call, Liverpool's 2-0 win further cemented their place at the top of the table keeping second-place Arsenal six points off the lead.
While it has been a dream start to Arne Slot's first season in charge, the dark cloud that is the club's failure to secure the signature of Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to overshadow their on-field successes.
All three of the Liverpool signings are out of contract at the end of this season and are yet to renew their contracts with the club. Although Van Dijk seems likely to put pen to paper on a new deal, Salah and Alexander-Arnold's future at the club has been the subject of much speculation.

Robbie Fowler has interesting theory on Liverpool's three key signings
Despite the three stars or the club not confirming any progress on contract negotiations, Liverpool great Robbie Fowler has an interesting theory on the situation.
Fowler who earned 266 caps for Liverpool, revealed in a clip released by Prime Video Sport, his theory that two of the three had already signed for the club but were keeping it under wraps to protect the third star from external pressure.
I do have a little theory actually, and I don't know if this is so far from the truth, I just think two of them have signed already you know for some reason.
And maybe one hasn't, but a simple fact is the club can't come out and say 'youse have signed' because it makes the other one look worse.
I think there's a possibility may have happened.
In fairness to Fowler, even he didn't seem sure of his theory asking if it made sense and explaining his reasoning behind it.
Does that make sense?
I think if two of them sign and then they (Liverpool) come out and say: "We've signed them". It puts so much pressure on the other one doesn't it.

While the counter-argument would obviously be that increased external pressure on the unsigned party would work in the club's favour, there is a sense that at this stage of the season, more progress has been made than is being revealed.
Both Mo Salah and Trent Alexander have been the subject of intense media debate for their approach to resigning for the club, with Salah the subject of criticism over comments he made about a lack of contract progress in public and Trent Alexander coming under fire over the prospect of him moving to Real Madrid on a free transfer come summer.
