Ireland's record cap holder and captain Robbie Keane has been completing his UEFA 'B' licence in IT Carlow in conjunction with the FAI. Partaking in the session with ex-La Galaxy teammate Carlo Cudicini, the Tallaght man is now just two steps, the UEFA 'A' and 'Pro' badges, away from being licensed to manage at the highest level.

Speaking to the FAI, Keane had the following to say:

The players have been fantastic and the coaches have been mentoring me. Overall I really, really enjoyed it.

It's been an eye-opener. I won't be giving manager's as hard a time as I used to be.

When asked whether he would prefer to be a manager or a coach he had what some might see as a surprising response;

I really enjoyed the coaching part of it. If you asked me this before this, doing these sessions, I probably would've said manager and probably would still be the case. Once I got into the coaching I really enjoyed. I'd kind of like to do both.

With namesake Roy now assistant manager with Ireland, not far removed from his own playing days, it may not be long before we see Robbie in working coaching, or indeed managing, the Boys in Green.

Keane-Keane dream team anyone?
