Robert Lewandowski has confirmed today that he wants to leave Bayern Munich after eight years at the Allianz Arena and the Polish striker didn't hold his feelings back when speaking about his desire to leave the club with immediate effect.

The Poland captain spoke to the media earlier today ahead of his team's Nations League game against Wales on Wednesday, but Lewandowski's future at Bayern was the main topic of conversation at the press conference.

Lewandowski has lifted the Bundesliga title in each of his eight seasons at the club. He also helped them win the Champions League back in 2020, but the striker has said that he doesn't see himself playing for Bayern anymore, confirming a long-running rumour.

The Poland captain said:

"My era at Bayern is over. I don't see any possibility to continue playing for this club anymore.

"Bayern's a serious club and I believe they won't keep me, I don't want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don't stop me."

Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona?

Fabrizio Romano reported over the weekend that Barcelona have a three year deal agreed with Lewandowski's agent Pini Zahavi and that they are just waiting on Bayern to announce the deal.

Who will replace Robert Lewandowski at Bayern?

Bayern Munich look set to bring Sadio Mane to the club as a replacement for Lewandowski, but a fee is yet to be decided with Liverpool. Mane has just one year left on his contract and after six seasons at Anfield, the Senegalese attacker seems keen for a new challenge.

Sky Sports News are reporting that Bayern are expected to make a bid of around €30 million for Mane.

Other potential destinations for Lewandowski

Lewandowski turns 34 in August but would still be a great coup for any club in Europe if they should decide to sign the striker who scored 48 goals in just 45 games this season.

Although it is expected that Barcelona will be new Lewandowski's new club, could Jurgen Klopp be tempted to make an offer for his former player who he sold to Bayern during his time as Borussia Dortmund manager?

A possible exchange deal between Mane and Lewandowski could be an option for both sides and Poland head coach Czesław Michniewicz said he would like to see his captain join Liverpool.
