Ronan Finn is coming to the end of his first season back at Shamrock Rovers.

The 29-year-old rejoined the club ahead of this season on a three-year deal. Despite winning back-to-back League titles at Dundalk, the midfielder revealed he was happy to be back at what he calls "the biggest club in Ireland".

Despite not being in the title race this year, he is confident that the good times are close to returning to the Tallaght-based club under manager Stephen Bradley.

The club sells itself, but the players need to do the business on a Friday night, so we can go to the best players in Ireland and attract them here They can have the potential of being part of this club and getting silverware and playing in Europe.

As a player, it's what you're going to remember when you retire. You're going to look at your medals and European experiences. That's what players will remember as a successful career.

While things have not fully gone to plan this season, off the field Shamrock Rovers continues to go from strength to strength. With one of the best academies in the country, they can call on the likes of Damien Duff to coach the Under-15s.

Duff's brief spell on the field with Shamrock Rovers came when Finn was at Dundalk, but since returning to Tallaght, he has been amazed by what the Republic of Ireland legend has brought to the club.

I go into work every morning, and without sounding silly, it's a privilege to work go in and work with Damien Duff. He's a person I've learned so much off in the short time I know him, because his standards are so high.

Now I can understand why he was so successful in his career. I can understand why him and Robbie Keane are probably the best two players the country has ever produced. I can see it now, knowing how high the man's standards are.

As a player, it doesn't matter how old you are, coming in and working with Damien every morning sells itself. We're in such a privileged position.

Despite retiring in 2015, Finn is still amazed what Duff can he can do with a football on the training ground.

Me and Graham Burke play him in a game of head tennis. He's just so good. He joins in training too, and is still unbelievable. His standards are just so high...  He still does it in training. Now and again we have the coaches play in a five-a-side against us. He still has it.
