Ireland U21 international Ross Tierney scored his first goal for Motherwell on Tuesday. It was a memorable one too, a 92nd minute equaliser against St Mirren in front of the Motherwell supporters.

Tierney had entered the action five minutes before half-time as a replacement for Liam Shaw. It was just the 20-year-old's fourth appearance for the Scottish Premiership side.

St Mirren had taken a 1-0 lead in the 81st when Alex Gogic headed in a corner from former Ireland U21 international Connor Ronan.

In injury time, Motherwell's Kaiyne Woolerly won the ball from St Mirren's Richard Tait near the touchline, and his scuffed ball into the box found Tierney. The Dubliner hit a clinical right-footed shot to the top corner.

"It was a brilliant moment," said St Mirren manager Graham Alexander.

"So late on. There was great togetherness and fitness from the players. It was a great finish from Ross, and brilliant in front of our fans. It was a great moment for us all because they were brilliant tonight.

"I'm frustrated, and the players are because they know they dominated their opponents tonight. We had some really good chances. Their keeper was in great form. We took a sucker punch going 1-0 down so late on."

Motherwell signed Tierney from Bohs in December on a three-and-a-half-year deal. He had made 67 appearances over three years for the Dublin club.
