Roy Keane has long been open about his desire to get back into management.

The Cork man has become a popular pundit during his appearances on Sky Sports and ITV in recent years, although he can't seem to shake the feeling that he should be back in the dugout. With it being over a decade since his last role as a manager, opportunities have not exactly been forthcoming.

Keane was linked with a return to Sunderland earlier this year, although that move was put on ice after the two parties did not agree on some key areas during their negotiations. The League One club instead appointed Alex Neil.

The former Ireland captain has gone on to say that he now sees a return to management as unlikely, although he had been suggested as an option for Hibernian in recent days.

The Scottish club recently sacked manager Shaun Maloney and it had been suggested that Keane was an early frontrunner to be his replacement. Despite this, it now appears that he will not proceeding in the process.

Roy Keane not interested in Hibernian job

The Daily Record are reporting that Roy Keane is not interested in the Hibernian job, largely down to the way the club conducts its transfer business.

The Edinburgh side require a transfer committee to vote on any potential deals to bring new players into the first team squad, meaning the manager is not in full control of the incomings and outgoings. This was never going to wash with Keane, who has consistently said that managers must have the final say in a club's transfer dealings.

As a result, he will not be considered when the final shortlist of candidates is drawn up in the coming days.

This is yet another opportunity the 50-year old has not opted to pursue, saying last month that he thinks it is unlikely he will return to management at this stage of his career.

Recently I feel that them days are over for me of going back into management. I'm 50 now, I'm doing the TV, I'm obviously labelled as more of a pundit now.

I feel like I'm getting my head around, maybe it's more of a head job, maybe that this is more of the role for me. I can't see a club giving me a really good opportunity to get back into it.

Despite his keenness in getting another job, it seems that Keane will be very particular when it comes to selecting a possible next destination.
