Roy Keane has delighted football fans looking for a laugh on social media by reactivating his Instagram account. The Corkman is famed for his no nonsense approach to football punditry, but he'd never dabbled in social media until launching a very amusing Instagram presence in 2021 and 2022.

The 52 year-old - who has never been on Twitter - started up his Instagram account back in February 2021, Keane when asked about the account said that it was a "for a bit of fun" during lockdown with his daughter. Keane rarely posted during his time on the app but built up a following of nearly 2 million people. He mostly used it as a platform to show off his comedic side, such as this post from Valentine's Day 2022.

He then deleted his account in May of 2022 and that appeared to be that. However, some of his followers noticed on Sunday that the account had mysteriously reappeared, although there was no post to accompany this.

Roy Keane hasn't ruled out interest in the Ireland job

The Ireland legend reaffirmed his interest in the Ireland job last week. Speaking on the Overlap podcast "Stick to Football" when asked about the job by Jamie Carragher, Keane responded with "Yeah, that could be an option."

Keane was assistant manager to Martin O'Neill during his reign from 2013 to 2018. The pair achieved success together qualifying for the European Championship in 2016 losing out to France in the last 16.

"International football, I enjoyed it when I was a coach there."

"I like the dynamics of it where you’re not in every day and it’s not about bringing players in and I suppose dealing with the board every week, whatever it might be, and the academy.

"That does appeal. I did enjoy the dynamics when I was coaching with Martin with the Irish team. We had a little bit of success.

"You look back when you've had a little bit of success, and then it's brilliant. Obviously, there's disappointments".

The FAI are on the still on the search for a replacement to Stephen Kenny after Lee Carsley reportedly turned the job down last Friday.
