Roy Keane Believes His Days In Management Are Probably Over

As much as we enjoy watching Roy Keane in the punditry studio, it would be very interesting to see how he would fare if he were to get back into management.

It could be said that his combative style might not be all suitable to a modern dressing room, something that has likely put clubs off giving him an opportunity in recent times.

It did appear as though the Irishman was close to joining Sunderland a few months ago, although negotiations about a return to the Stadium of Light would break down. Unfortunately, it could be a while before another opportunity such as that one presents itself.

As a result, Roy Keane currently feels as though his days in management are probably over.

Roy Keane believe his days in management are over

Speaking to LADbible alongside Jamie Carragher, the Irishman said that he will more than likely be sticking to his punditry duties in the near future, although that is a role he still feels a bit uncomfortable in.

I still feel like I'm dipping into it, where as you and Gary are well established.

I don't know if I enjoy it, I wouldn't go that far. I like watching games and giving my opinions, I like working with Sky and ITV, I feel lucky.

I still don't feel as if it's my job. Maybe that's because I've been involved in a bit of coaching and management...

I did until recently (feel like a manager who is doing punditry), but recently I feel that them days are over for me of going back into management. I'm 50 now, I'm doing the TV, I'm obviously labelled as more of a pundit now.

I feel like I'm getting my head around, maybe it's more of a head job, maybe that this is more of the role for me. I can't see a club giving me a really good opportunity to get back into it.

I don't mind that either. I'm not fearful of going 'you might do TV for the next two or three years', I don't mind that. I count my blessings, because as you know there are a lot of ex-players looking to get back into it.

If you're going back into the punditry, it's the same with you, Gary, and Micah, we do love the game. You give your opinions, not everyone agrees with it...

We love the game and I hope that comes across. We are working with different people, I enjoy working with different people. It's bizarre how people can get upset over a pundit's opinion, it's just our opinion.

Sunderland did seem like an ideal place for Keane to get back into management, returning to a club who had firsthand experience of how he could positively impact a dressing room.

However, it looks as though he will have to contented with a his TV work for the foreseeable future.
