Liverpool may come away disappointed from their draw with Manchester United this afternoon, but Roy Keane certainly was not impressed with the way Virgil van Dijk spoke about the opposition after the game.

While some may have expected Jurgen Klopp's men to blow the visitors away at Anfield, the reality was far different.

The home side may have dominated possession for large periods, but they failed to do much with it. The away side defended resolutely, although they never really looked like a threat moving forward.

It was a game that was severely lacking in quality, one that always seem destined to finish in a 0-0 draw. Despite a few half opportunities for both sides in the final quarter, that would turn out to be the case.

Liverpool would have come into this game full of confidence that they would have been able to get a result, meaning that they will be disappointed to come away with a draw.

Their performance was well short of the standard required at this level, although they will still feel they should have won the game considering the amount of possession they had.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Virgil van Dijk said that there was only one team who attempted to win the game on this occasion.

There was only one team I think that were trying to win the game. Unfortunately it didn't happen.

That's why it's frustrating. We want to win every game of course, but especially if we play against a team like them...

We were superior in all aspects form the very beginning. They were hoping on a couple of counterattacks and to hurt us on the break. In the end they are buzzing with a point and we are very disappointed with a point...

They're not in the best phase, so coming here you're weary of the threat we have.

Those comments have not gone down well with Roy Keane.

He would label the Dutchman as 'arrogant' for the way he spoke about Manchester United on this occasion.

We heard van Dijk speaking there, there's a lot of arrogance dishing United like that. He needs a reminder himself, he's playing for a team that have won one title in 30 odd years.

He's saying only one team wanted to win and Man United are buzzing with the point. Man United are in a difficult place, like Liverpool were in a difficult place for many a year. Maybe that bit of arrogance backfired on him today...

I've come here many times when I was at Man United and Liverpool were in a tough place and they were happy with a draw...

Sometimes players need a reminder when they're playing for a club like Liverpool, and everyone is saying Man United are this and that, many a year Man United were in a good place, if you're going to be disrespecting clubs like he is...

It's arrogance. It is frustration, but his tone when he is talking about Man United, as if they'd turn up and beat Man United. We all expected the worst, but you still have to go and do it.

That's what great teams do. That's what teams that win championships every year do, the Man Citys, Man Uniteds, or Liverpool of the 80s.

He's got to remember where he's coming from. Once in 3o odd years Liverpool have won the league? He needs a reminder himself.

Sometimes you need a reminder yourself.

Liverpool will be disappointed to not win this game, although the performance they put in certainly did not deserve the three points.

Manchester United always looked unlikely to score themselves, but considering their form in recent times, they will be happy enough to come away with a draw.

Roy Keane said as much after the game, but he did not like the way Virgil van Dijk spoke after the fixture.
