Roy Keane's Verdict On That Tackle On Luke Shaw Is Sure To Cause Plenty Of Debate

He may have risked provoking the ire of plenty of Man United fans but that's never been enough for Roy Keane to change his mind about anything. This time, it's that tackle on Luke Shaw that the Ireland assistant manager has had his say on and we're fully in agreement with him.

The reaction to Hector Moreno's challenge was stupidly over the top. Louis Van Gaal was calling for a sending off, former referees were jumping on the bandwagon and a quick twitter search for 'Moreno' and 'kill' will show you the absolute worst in humanity.

Unsurprisingly, Keane, speaking on ITV's Champions League coverage last night, was less than worried about what Man United fans thought about the tackle.

I thought it was a brilliant challenge. I love the physical side of the game. You can always tell by player reactions and none of the United lads at the time, and players are best judges because they are nearest the tackle, didn't react over the top thinking it was a bad challenge, obviously at the end of it.

And when players are travelling that speed, defending like that, injuries are going to happen. I'm surprised there are not more like it. It was more of an accident at the end of with his trailing foot.

As much as you may not always agree with Keane, any viewing of that tackle through neutral eyes will show that he's right on the mark this time. Although having seen some of the initial reaction from Man United fans, we can certainly see plenty of people having something to say about Keane's verdict.
