Popular subreddit page r/soccerstreams is set to be scrapped. The page was a means for football fans to watch games free across the world.

The page is a consistent 'go-to' for fans with over 426,000 subscribers currently. However, it has been informed of an impending ban and in an admin post announced the only solution was to "cease all user-related activity."

Many of the streams posted are illegal streams, something that broadcasters and rightsholders have increasing tried to tackle. Last year, George Lawson, head of commercial piracy at Sky, warned businesses and individuals they are "at high risk of being caught and face substantial penalties”.

R/soccerstreams was particularly popular during the 2018 World Cup, with interest peaking in June and July.

The website's user agreement does outline its stance on pirated content being shared.

Reddit respects the intellectual property of others and requires that users of our Services do the same. We have a policy that includes the removal of any infringing materials from the Services and for the termination, in appropriate circumstances, of users of our Services who are repeat infringers.

Last July, the Premier League continued the war on illegal streams as they were granted a significant High Court Order that enabled it to disrupt and block illegal streams of its content.
