Ryan Giggs, having finally reached the target audience age group for Countdown, will appear on the show tomorrow. It won't be as a contestant, but to present a Manchester United shirt to life-long fan Rachel Riley to mark her 1,000th appearance on the show. Giggs recently surpassed the 1,000 appearances mark in professional football and the show's producers organised the tribute for their presenter.
Riley told the Radio Times “I had no inkling that I had just filmed my 1,000th episode when Nick announced it on the show, and I was touched that the Countdown team had surprised me with the news. As Nick continued, I thought they might have got me a bunch of flowers. But I nearly fell through the floor when Ryan Giggs suddenly appeared with some!"
The show will be on Channel 4 at 3:10 tomorrow.
