After Arsenal's woes continued yesterday when suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, Sam Allardyce has claimed that he could turn the club's fortunes around.

The club fired their manager Unai Emery last month after a poor run of form, but since Freddie Ljungberg took over their poor form has continued as the club have failed to win a game since.

With the club sitting ninth in the Premier League, the need for a new manager is has become urgent, with Mikel Arteta and Carlo Ancelloti just two names being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Talking to Alan Brazil on Talksport this morning, Sam Allardyce claimed he could improve Arsenal's defence though he also admitted that he is "not fashionable enough" for the club.

"I know there's is a reputation at the club on how you should play, but realistically when you're struggling it's about finding the capabilities of the players and getting them to play to those capabilities." he told the radio station.

I've always been pragmatic and have always picked a style to suit the players. Nobody will be enjoying going in at Arsenal at the moment. It's crisis management, you have to start making the players believe in themselves again.

It's not about what you are as a coach, it's about what you are a man-manager, extracting the best out of the players again and breathing some confidence back into them.

I could come and work on Arsenal's defence and make them better tomorrow, not a problem whatsoever. I've done it everywhere I've been – Newcastle, Blackburn, Bolton, West Ham Crystal Palace, Everton, I've done it all there.

But what you can't do is get the front line performing that much better, you've got to hope you've got good quality players up there, and Arsenal have.

However, Arsenal are already believed to be in talks with Arteta after club officials were spotted paying a visit to the Spaniard's home in Manchester. Arteta spent five years in North London with the club during his playing career and since gone on to become a vital cog in Manchester City's operation under Pep Guardiola.
