Following setbacks with two other targets, namely Dani Alves and Nathaniel Clyne, the Sunday People reported that Manchester United rekindled their interest in Seamus Coleman.

Right-back was a particularly problematic position for the Old Trafford club last season.

'Sky sources', possibly readers of the Sunday People, also said that Louis van Gaal is interested in the 26-year-old.

If Van Gaal really does want Coleman the process will not be straightforward.

According to the Liverpool Echo, 'Everton will rebuff any interest' in the player from United. They also say that Coleman, a key part of Roberto Martinez's plan, is 'not for sale'.

United were reportedly set to offer £15 million for the Donegalman.

It sounds like a much larger offer will be required for Everton to part with the Irish international.
